EXPO 2008 ZARAGOZA SPAIN 14 JUNE TO 14 SEPTEMBER 2008

WATER AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Exciting new developments celebrating water and water ecosystems throughout the World are in preparation for Zaragoza Expo 2008, including a massive fluvial aquarium based on the original supercontinent Pangaea, where ecosystem after ecosystem, from the icecaps of the arctic and antarctic, to the Nile River Delta, the Amazon, Mekong and Murray-Darling River system of Australia, will be re-created through massive walkthrough aquarium and river galleries, featuring over 300 species of 2,000 specimens of sea and river life of aquatic fish, animal, and plant life, and a dedicated crocodile pool featuring three specimens of the Nile crocodile.

The Opening Ceremony of the Expo and the nightly evening shows will feature a multimedia spectacular on the focus of climate change, with several large-scale surprise items including a massive iceberg on the Ebro River expo site which will be used as a poetic and dramatic entrant for the Opening Ceremony. When were icebergs last used at a World Exposition? The Pavilion of Chile at Seville '92 was renowned for being the coolest Pavilion on site - with its own several metre high Chilean iceberg in the centre of the Pavilion. The Pavilion Bar was also popular, featuring ice cubes of antarctic frost.

With now over 78 confirmed international participants, how will the Expo's Theme be articulated? View here development of the Expo Theme and Key Objectives of the Expo as a schematic diagram:
