Now it is only 1000 days till the Opening of Shanghai World Expo 2010 and a national touring exhibition on Shanghai 2010 and the History of World Expositions will be an important part of the promotions. Beijing, Chongqing, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangdong and Shanghai will host the exhibition, which commenced this week. Read the BIE Press Release here:

IN SPECIAL EXPO 2005 TO EXPO 2008 CARTOON SERIES
In a special co-operative enterprise between Aichi Expo 2005 and Zaragoza Expo 2008, Expo 2005 Japan mascots Kikkoro and Morizo shall be special guests in six chapters of the Expo 2008 Zaragoza Spain mascots Fluvi and the Negas cartoon series, where they help Fluvi and his colleagues in their ongoing adventures to defeat the evil Negas. A unique presentation that celebrates continuity between World Expositions, this novel idea could lead the way in a World Expositions 'Superheroes Division', where each mascot from each World Exposition is asked to play a collaborative problem-solving task in the next World Exposition. The stunning Expo Center for Shanghai World Expo 2010 shall be a 350 m long 140 m wide and 40 m high glass rectangle on the Expo site's Huangpu River bank, a high-tech work in glass and steel reminiscent of the Crystal Palace of the London Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations of 1851 (563 m long, 124 m wide, 33 m high), with a total area of 140,000 square metres, some several thousand square metres larger than its London counterpart of 1851, at 92,000 square metres. Located at the Expo site's 'B-Zone', at the end of the
Expo's principal axis and adjacent to the Thematic Pavilions, Performance
Center, and China Pavilion, the Expo Center will be the Expo's protocol,
media, information, and functions headquarters, with a 2,600-seat
Conference Hall, 600-seat Conference Hall, 5,000-seat multi-functional
hall, and 3,000-seat banquet hall.

Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations H.E. Zhou Wenzhong was greeted to the Expo Authority by Commissioner-General Shanghai Expo 2010 Hua Junduo and Zhong Yangqun Expo Deputy Director in a visit to Shanghai. Ric Birch, Director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1982 XIIth Commonwealth Games Brisbane, the 1984 L.A. Olympics Games, the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, and Director of the Entertainment Division of World Expo '88 paid a courtesy visit to the Nepal Peace Pagoda at South Bank Parklands during a recent visit to Brisbane. Attended by Foundation Executive Director and The Friends of the Pagoda Association Secretary John McGregor, Birch and McGregor mused over the memories of World Expo '88 at the Pagoda's special World Expo '88 Commemorative Photograph and Memorabilia Exhibition, as well as discussed plans for future World Expositions. FORECOURT THEATRE 15 SEPTEMBER 2007
As a special preview of the Brisbane Nepal Peace Pagoda Forecourt Theatre program for the 20th Anniversary of World Expo '88 next year, we will be hosting a three-nation sacred Asian court music festival at the Pagoda's front forecourt during the weekend of Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September, with three 90-minute programs from the Kingdom of Nepal, Bali and the Empire of Japan, commencing at 2pm Saturday 15 September. NEPAL FRIENDSHIP WALK SUNDAY 22 JULY 2007
Many Australian and Nepalese walkers joined in this popular annual event, which climaxes at the Pagoda before returning to Captain Burke Park at Kangaroo Point. Representatives from both the Nepal Australia Friendship Association Queensland and The Friends of the Pagoda Association greeted walkers as they arrived at the Pagoda, where they received a good luck 'third eye' red dab of face paint, as well as learn about the Pagoda's rich Nepalese and World Expo '88 heritage. We look forward to working with NAFA Queensland to see greater Nepalese representation at the Pagoda in the future. PAGODAS TOUR OF NEPAL NOVEMBER 2007
The Friends of the Pagoda Association is working to create a special Pagodas Tour of Nepal for November this year, with a special focus on Nepal Peace Pagodas in Nepal, giving us a greater appreciation of our precious Nepalese and World Expo '88 heritage. 5-star luxury, interpreted/guided tours of Pagodas in Kathmandu and nearby towns and villages, and Nepalese cuisine are to be the key foundations for this PR education and fundraising project.
