Welcome to the Second Edition of World Expositions Snapshot - by Foundation Expo '88 - Your Australian World Expositions Gateway.

WORLD NEWS......

Wroclaw - Poland, joins Yeosu - South Korea, and Tangier - Morocco, as an official applicant to host the 2012 World Exposition. Following Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) Paris regulations, for new proposed Expo year applications, BIE member nations can apply from four to nine years ahead of the proposed Expo year date, and other interested member nations then have a period of six months to lodge a competing bid application for that same year. The winning bid application is decided by member nations vote at a General Assembly of the BIE - generally held every June and December in Paris.

The competing bid application time period for the 2012 timeslot will conclude on 22 November 2006. Yeosu - Korea, opened the bid process for the 2012 World Exposition with their application for the 2012 timeslot to the BIE on 22 May 2006.
