Entertainment
The Space
The
Space - one of Expo '88's smallest - and lesser known performance
venues - was located in the northern Brisbane River-side edge of
the Expo site - near the helicopter pad and the side of the Canada
Pavilion and Suncorp Sensus Play Area, where, in front of a small
circular grass turf seating area, families could rest, have a picnic
lunch, and enjoy busker-type entertainment by individual
performers, as well as street theatre performers and smaller scale
types of entertainment.
Also nearby here was the popular New
Zealand art work of a group of African animals grazing - a very
effectively done colourfully rendered painted profile of several
elephants and zebras, on sheets of cut-out corrugated iron - which
added some unfamiliar - and welcome - whimsy to this somewhat hidden
part of the site. |
