ATE07 AND QUEENSLAND WEEK 2007 AT THE NEPAL PEACE PAGODA

Due to popular demand, the 2007 National Trust of Queensland Queensland Heritage and ICOMOS International Museums Week continues at the Nepal Peace Pagoda for delegates to ATE07, and Queensland Week 2007! This World Expo '88 20th Anniversary 1988-2008 promotion, conducted by The Friends of the Pagoda Association and Foundation Expo '88 in collaboration with South Bank Corporation, Brisbane City Council, and Image Plus Digital Imaging Indooroopilly, continues for a further two weeks Sunday 27 May to Sunday 10 June - celebrating and commemorating our rich World Expositions heritage.

What are some of the activities planned?

The World Expo '88 Memorabilia Cabinet
Now curated with unique World Expo '88 memorabilia content, view this mini-display of a potpourri selection of World Expo '88's popular culture - from mascot Expo Oz, to the official map, Expo Passports and more, including the Pagoda during - and after Expo - and future plans for the World Expo '88 Museum - at the Pagoda's Second Level. A Joint Project by Foundation Expo '88 and The Friends of the Pagoda Association

Guided Tours of the Nepal Peace Pagoda - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 2pm - Meet at the Nepal Peace Pagoda Front Forecourt, led by Foundation Executive Director and Secretary of The Friends of the Pagoda Association, John McGregor. A 20-minute survey of one of Brisbane City's most significant World Expositions heritage items. Learn and discover the Pagoda's fascinating World Expo '88 and Nepalese, Hindu and Buddhist stories. An icon of peace, good will, that communicates the Australian multifaith experience. Admission by Admission Ticket Only - given at the start of each tour.

The Foundation Expo '88 Brisbane City Council World Expo '88 Panorama Photo Selection Rekindle the wonderful memories of World Expo '88 - when Brisbane was capital of the world for six months - with this selection of official Panorama Photographs of the Expo - a first ever public display of these unique and breath-taking works. And, don't forget to take order details for a wide variety of custom-made memorabilia featuring the art works - a special 20th Anniversary of Expo promotion in conjunction with the Foundation Gift Shop and local partner Image Plus Digital Imaging Indooroopilly. A select number of Merchandise (and how to order cards for easy distribution) will be on Display. Your Purchase helps Support Foundation and Association Goals! Themed Activity Sheets Take this opportunity during the Festival to examine the Pagoda, its art forms, architecture, and stories. 10 Themed Activity Sheets - available at the Pagoda's interior - promote a fascinating insight into the Pagoda and its rich heritage. Complete some activities by yourself - bring a friend or group of friends - let your children learn something of this important World Exposition heritage. The Brisbane World Expo '88 Network Guide And, finally, take YOUR copy of the Edition 2.0 May 2007 Brisbane World Expo '88 Network Guide - your guide to Brisbane's World Expo '88 heritage, including the Nepal Peace Pagoda, South Bank Parklands, the Japan Pond and Garden, the Stefan Sky Needle, and the artwork from the Expo in our city's avenues, malls, arcades and parks. Produced by Foundation Expo '88 and The Friends of the Pagoda Association.

AND, THE WORLD EXPO '88 HERITAGE TRAIL in a special conjunction with Queensland Week 2007, the World Expo '88 Heritage Trail Walk will be conducted Sunday 3 June and Sunday 10 June 2007. Departing from Expo '88 work 'Mirage' at the centre of the Brisbane Arcade 9am Sunday 3 June, and the Stefan Sky Needle 9am Sunday 10 June, these two walks take in some of Brisbane's prettiest arcades, streetscapes, landmarks and icons from World Expo '88. Participation is Free! Bring a hat, sunscreen, and good walking shoes! Morning Tea Breaks included (own cost), a wonderful way to start Brisbane's balmy and perfect winter social calendar.
